Summary

The Palomar/Las Campanas Atlas of Nearby Galaxies includes images in R and H$\alpha$ for a total of more than 300 nearby galaxies, mostly grand-design spirals.

Observations

The images in this Atlas were obtained using the Palomar Observatory 60-inch telescope and the Las Campanas Observatory (Chile) 40-inch and 100-inch telescopes. We used the 2048x2048 CCD13 at Palomar and the 2048x2048 Tek5 (2048x3150 SITe3) CCD at Las Campanas 100-inch (40-inch). The pixel scales are 0.37" for CCD13 and 0.26" (0.435") for the Tek5 (SITe3) CCD at the 100-inch (40-inch) telescope. The R-band filters are in the Cousins system. The H$\alpha$ filters from Palomar were 20A-wide, while the ones used at Las Campanas were 60A-wide.
